When Summer Whispers Goodbye
As summer begins its gentle retreat, my walks take on a new rhythm—a quieter, more contemplative pace moving and breathing with the wind and breathing in fresh air, hoping for another great day. The mornings that once were were golden and warm, now greet me with a crisp embrace and dew drops like jewelry. I watch in awe every day as the leaves, like delicate dancers, twirl in the wind and brush against my skin as they make their descent.
The sun’s warmth fades, replaced by a cool breeze that raises goosebumps and whispers of winter’s approach. I welcome it with resilience, knowing change is inevitable—and beautiful. That same resilience, I hope, stirs something in you too.
Foxes, Birds, and the Poetry of Stillness
Here in my quiet and peaceful, extraordinary corner of the world, the hum of summer has vanished. The roads, once alive with motion, now lie still. It’s just me and my dog, walking down the center line, listening to birds serenade the squirrels, and foxes taunting my dog Emma, who likes to chase them in the woods. This solitude brings a profound tranquillity—a peaceful calm I cherish and wish to share with you. The beauty around me is vital for my work.
Even the most minor stir—a mouse darting by the curb—feels poetic.
But winter brings its own challenges. The long months stretch out like a barren canvas. The cold breath of the season takes on a life of its own, sometimes hard to witness, sometimes hard to endure. The stark whiteness can feel isolating, and the mind, like the landscape, can grow quiet and heavy.
The life of a painter is often solitary. At the easel, I explore themes of love and loss, and in doing so, I confront my own thoughts—those quiet, persistent ones we all carry. Thankfully, painting and writing are my refuge.
Right now, my load is heavy. I’m juggling multiple projects, all due before the end of the year. The studio hums with activity, and some days feel more overwhelming than others. But winter offers a gift: more extended hours of focused work, free from the guilt of not being outside. That love for my craft—that deep, consuming passion—I know you feel it too.

No Shortcuts-Only Integrity
My inbox is overflowing with invitations and opportunities, but I’ve had to step back this year. My focus is on completing the work that demands—and deserves—my full attention. No shortcuts. Just integrity.
So that’s the pulse of my month. I hope yours is filled with inspiration, quiet moments of reflection, and the kind of creative energy that keeps your spirit lit. I’m always searching for inspiration, trusting that time will deliver it.
