  3. An exciting venture

An exciting hello to all.

What an exciting time for us here in the studio! I’m thrilled to introduce Nicole, a crucial part of our team. She handles administrative duties so that I can entirely focus on my art and writing. Her support has been invaluable, especially during those endless hours in the studio, where writing has become a vital part of my creative process.

January is full of plans and event announcements to kick-start the new year. I’m thrilled about the work I have lined up and the projects I’ll announce soon. With Nicole’s help, I can focus on these without too much distraction, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Nicole is a fantastic person, and my daughter loves dark art, too. I couldn’t be happier for her and all the help she has given me; thank you, Nici. I couldn’t do it without you!

Everyone needs help in the studio, and there is no shame in asking for it. People love to help and be part of a journey or a large project. It’s exciting, and I get it, especially when you need to focus on painting art. I’m genuinely grateful for your support and role in this journey. Your support means the world to me. I want to express my heartfelt thanks for being a part of my artistic journey. Your encouragement, constructive criticism and belief in my work have been a source of inspiration for me.

So, I made a video for the ItsLiquid Group to thank them for their invitation and for sharing my work. You can watch my reel here.
A few weeks back, ItsLiquid Group, a long-standing art organization, invited me, and I accepted, knowing that this was uncharted waters. I have never sent any art to Europe, so this was the first. And yes, knowing very little about the group was scary, except they were very interested in my art for the “Visions” group show exhibition.

Thankfully, they are reputable and have been in business for a long time. The reviews were great, so the next step was to take a chance. I have always been connected to Italy, and as a young girl, I lived there with my relatives. That’s where I learned about my first viewing of Caravaggio and that Renaissance masters existed. Wow, that was something, so sending my work made sense. My parents would be proud. I have never been to Venice yet; it’s never too late, but I’m excited my work gets to travel and see the world.

We encountered a few hiccups with shipping, which was a learning experience. But we persevered, overcoming the challenges of living in a remote area. Having never shipped internationally, this experience was a little nerve-racking but exciting.

This experience is one I will cherish, and next time. Learning is valuable, and this was indeed a journey of discovery for me. I wish I could have gone in person, but I have a loved one in the hospital, so that wasn’t possible. I wanted to share this experience to illustrate how every step of this journey provides an opportunity to learn. I’m grateful for all the support I received throughout this process.

The international courier I worked with was great and assured me that everything would go smoothly. Nicole handled all the paperwork, communications, and care, which was fantastic. We even had a large custom wooden box for the paintings, which was more significant than I expected. However, everything was wrapped and packaged securely, and the items arrived safely.

I wish the ItsLiquid Group and all the artists participating in the “Visions” International Art Fair in Venice great success. Thank you for showcasing my work; I appreciate it and look forward to more opportunities to share my art.
