  3. Threads of Change: A Journey of Art, Love, and Resilience

Farewell to the Lake

Wow! Here we are in March, with the sun shining and the ice beginning to melt on the lake. My walks on the frozen lake are ending—a bittersweet transition. I’ve cherished the freedom they provided, but now it’s time to return to the road and embrace the next chapter. So much has happened since my last post. First, I want to thank everyone who has supported me on this journey of love and loss. Your encouragement makes sharing my work all the more meaningful, and my heart is filled with appreciation.

Dreams Worth the Sacrifice

Life feels like a puzzle with many intricate pieces, making navigating complex and challenging. But sacrifices are often necessary to achieve our dreams, especially when we yearn for something deeply. I am determined to have my first solo show next year—not only for those who believe in me but also for myself. Sharing my art with the world has been a lifelong dream, and I am committed to making it a reality.

Thank you especially to Grant Milne for selecting my artwork for Artist Talk Magazine. It was an incredible experience and a valuable addition to my portfolio. Your support means the world to me.

I also want to thank Women United and Debbie Morton from Morton Contemporary for highlighting my work. Your recognition is truly an honour.

This year has started positively, and I am working diligently to gain recognition and celebrate my art. Astonishingly, my first public exposure was in July 2023 at the Edmonton Art Walk. Reflecting on how much time has passed, I see how busy and fulfilling 2024 has been. For me, success isn’t measured solely in financial terms—it’s about discipline, dedication, and hard work. I believe commitment and passion will lead to rewards far beyond monetary gain.

When I was with Maud Gallery, I recall that no one knew anything about me. It didn’t seem crucial then, but I later realized its importance—especially considering the significant investment in building an artistic career. My work holds substantial value, but collectors had little to connect with it without a narrative to accompany it. I knew I had to change that. A year later, my efforts have ensured that collectors appreciate and remain enthusiastic about acquiring my work. Hard work pays off, and I enjoy knowing my art resonates with others.

The art world has its own set of rules, and I am learning to navigate them.

Unchaining “Chained Souls”

My upcoming solo show will be a milestone, tying everything together to reflect my journey. If you haven’t seen my latest piece, “Chained Souls,” it’s now available on my Instagram Story and as a reel. I’d love for you to check it out and share your thoughts. The whole story behind the piece is also recorded in my journal.

In the coming week, we will add three more prints to the store, featuring my latest work, “Chained Souls.” This piece holds a special place in my heart. The experience of creating it stirred deep emotions within me, forging a connection to something beyond the physical world. Love and loss intertwine in my work, allowing me to explore fragments of myself that no longer exist in this realm but remain vivid in my spiritual consciousness. This journey of artistic and spiritual exploration is deeply personal—one that we must walk alone, yet one that ultimately unites us all.

Art’s Silent Magic

Each night, I drift into darkness, navigating a labyrinth of tunnels, searching for answers on the other side. Though mysterious, this realm does not frighten me. In fact, I embrace it, unafraid to share these intimate experiences with you, the reader. The creatures of the night serve as my silent confidants, free of judgment. They illuminate my fears, guide me through uncertainties, and remind me of past lessons with a quiet, knowing presence. They stir emotions within me—sometimes a pang of embarrassment, sometimes an ache of nostalgia—whispering, “I told you so.”

Whispers Under Moonlight

As a young woman, I never fully grasped the weight of death in its many forms, nor the emotions that arise when kindness is taken for granted and hatred becomes commonplace. How does the mind reshape our perceptions of love and loss? Do we reevaluate our emotions through experience, or is it madness to question our thoughts? The human mind is a pendulum, swinging between despair and elation, persuading us that the stories we leave behind in death echo what awaits us on the other side. Love is a symphony of emotions, a violin that plays an ever-changing melody, testing our resilience in this complex dance of love and loss.

Yet, in the quiet of the night, beneath the silver glow of the moon, I feel the whispers of the universe guiding me forward. The stars seem to hum with the echoes of past souls, their light a reminder that love never truly fades—it simply transforms, lingering in the spaces between reality and dream. There is magic in this mystery, in the unseen threads that connect us across time and space. I am learning to trust in this magic, embrace the unknown, and let my art bridge this world and the next.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your support and encouragement make all the difference.
